Ride the Stars (Drac Series) by Autumn Dawn

Strong-armed into a contract, hustled aboard an alien ship, Jaide and Sesame aren’t in the mood to like their new bosses. Mechanical geniuses, they make their living hot-rodding racing ships and revving up military grade war craft. Unfortunately, their Draconian customers aren’t willing to go on a waiting list.
But there’s more to worry about for Jaide than fending off Skye’s determined pursuit and revving up his captain’s ship. Someone wants to kill her, her partner is falling for the Drac leader, and she’s beginning to suspect there’s more to their abduction then meets the eye. As everything she thought she knew is turned upside down, can she has to overcome her distrust of men and reach for a love as powerful as the chance to ride the stars?

The male Draconians in this book reminded me strongly of The Haunt in Autumn Dawn's other series Darklands. They are strong, against pre~marital sex, honourable and incredibly sexy. The Draconians don't feed on blood as their name and appearance seem to imply ~ they do however need to bite their mates neck to change change her DNA to be more like them (and thus capable of cross race breeding) and again to make them pregnant. In this book Autumn Dawn once more paints a vivid picture of alien life but weaves it so successfully with realistic characters and situations as to make the story more believable and captivating. Jaide has a whole host of hang ups from her youth, which was spent being embarrassingly overweight. Her trust has been abused so many times that she trusts neither other people nor herself. The cultural differences between Jaide and skye (Human and Draconian) seem too big to surmount by someone with so much emotional baggage. This isn't helped by media speculation about the Draconian race that paints them as blood thirsty killers. Sesame and Jaide (engineers) are kidnapped and forced in to a contract to modify the Draconian spaceship. Skye and the rest of his crew are Draconian law enforcers trying to catch some serious criminals. Jaide has no idea how central she is to that investigation. Surrounded by people that she feels that she can no longer trust and hurt by their betrayal, Jaide take some serious action herself. The book flows nicely with sensual romance (the idea of a woman needing to take passion killing tea was a novel one), action (murders, rapes, drugs, theft etc) and Sci~Fi ideas including some pretty cool scientific inventions. Despite the numerous flash backs to The Darklands, I enjoyed this book and have already bought the sequel to read.

Careful He Bites (Draconian series) by Autumn Dawn

Ever kissed a Drac? Careful, they bite....
Bali Itara is the daughter of a mad scientist, and daddy's favorite toy.
Domino is the man who can help her escape the madness, for his bite holds the cure. There's only one catch....

Itara was a mad scientist who liked to experiment on live subjects, creating mutants. He also experimented on his own daughter, Bali.
Bali was dying ~ the only possible cure is to persuade a Draconian to bite her, hoping that their adaptagen venom will over~write the rapidly deteriorating genes that her Father has tampered with.

I enjoyed this book despite the carelessness that resulted in the author yet again getting her characters confused and stating that Sky was married to Sesame when he actually married Jaide. I didn't think it was as good as the previous one in the series (Ride The Stars) but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless.
